Honk! Honk ! Honk!

This morning I heard the first signs that fall might be on its way. After a week of realitive cool air. The geese seem to be migrating south. The air was field with their noisy honks. The first of many such occurances for the next few weeks I am sure. All though noisy I love the sound of the geese as they go south. It is a sound that has come to be some what homey since moving to the midwest. Although it means that the weather is getting colder. Soon the white stuff will arrive. A few friends and I have been debating the last week or so wether we will have an early winter or not. Don't know if the geese are sending that message or not - but it seems so. I wonder if I should go south with them? Although I do love the snow - hate the cold. This creates a dilema - since you can't usually have the snow without the cold - although you can have the cold with out the snow :( . Too migrate or not to migrate - that is the Question?!?!

Harvest Time!

It is harvest time again at our house. We have been busy the last three or four weeks putting up produce. It started with two weeks of corn, which we took off the cob and froze. Then it was on to the first of the tomatoes. Last week Del and I did twenty-eight pints of diced tomatoes. Then this week I helped a friend who wanted to learn do another ten for herself. Hopefully before we are done I will get enough tomatoes to do some juice and maybe some apples for another batch of apple sauce. YUM, YUM, YUM!!! :)

Splash Pad

The finale weekend before school Del took the boys over to a local park with a splash pad for some water play. They had a fairly good time - but it was cooler than it had been earlier in the week so they only stayed an hour because it got a little too cold. They are hoping maybe they can go one more time before the splash pad closes for the season. They love getting wet and mom likes it too because it is not her hose that is on for a couple of hours at a time. :)

First Day of Kindergarten!!!

Today was the first day of Kindergarten for K.J. He was both excited and a little scared. It will be his first time away from mom for the whole day by himself. (Of course mom is feeling a little freaky about this too- besides my littlest being in kindergarten it is the first time in ten years that I am soloing also.) But K. is also excited to be making new friends, learning new things, and of course going to the same school as his big brother. I hope that he to has a really great year. ( and that mom can survive the experience as well!) :)

First Day of Fourth Grade

J.D. Started fourth grade today. He is getting so grown-up. This is his last year in grade school.:( A little sad for mom - not sure how he feels about it. He was however very excited about the teacher he got this year. He has the only male teacher in the building. He was super glad about that - thought it was pretty cool. He is also happy about being in TAG again this year. He has the same teacher for this class - he really likes her and was also excited to be in her class again this year. So hopefully he will have a great year!!

K.J. has some serious fixing up business to do today! His pockets are loaded for what ever situation he will encounter - probably a little mischief as well! :)
