Bedtime Stories

I love reading to my kids. What a great way to spend twenty or thirty minutes of your time. I was thinking last night as K.J. was snuggled up to me and we were reading a book - how much I love this and how I will miss it when he gets too big. J.D. is almost there now. However I still catch him peeking over the top bunk to see the pictures as I read to K. It is one of my favorite times of the day.

Harvest ....

This is multiple post day.
The thing that makes gardens truly worth the hassel is of course the Harvest. I was thinking how nice fresh grown food is last night as we were eating dinner. Our dinner consisted of a main corse and a mini vegi tray - carrots, broccoli, and cherry tomatoes - all freshley harvested from our garden -YUMMMMMY! :). We have been fortunate to enjoy other fresh picked goodies this year as well - sweet corn, tomatoes, bell peppers, onions, radishes, green beans, peas and several varieties of lettuce. I loved fresh grown food. We have been blessed to have these things especially in light of all the rain we have had this year - particularly this spring and early summer. I will be very sad when it gets to cold to harvest any more goodies from this years garden. I guess until than bon apetite! :)

J. D. Growing Up

My Little one
J.D. celebrated his ninth birthday last week. On the second day of school. He is growing and learning and changing. It seems like only yesterday that we brought him home. We love him very much. We are very grateful that he is part of our family. He is a true joy! Happy Birthday J!

School

Today J.D. will complete his first full week of school (last week was only a half a week). It seems like time has gone so fast. It is hard to believe he is in third grade. He is very excited about school this year - not only does he have his regular third grade class but this last summer he received his acceptance letter for the TAG(gifted and talented) program here. He loves school and learning. Especially anything to do with science. He also likes both of his teacher. I think he will have a great year! :)

Tell Me Why......

Does this look like the face of someone who would periodically cause mischief and mayhem???Don't answer that. Tell me why children come up with the things they do? Yesterday my sweet four year old K.J. gave me one of those - tell me why moments. In the middle of the afternoon I ask him to make a potty stop (he gets busy and forgets until he has an accident:( ). After a brief argument he trotted off to the bathroom. I hear the light go on and then I hear this not so normal noise. Knowing my K. J. as I do I immediately hurried to the bathroom after him. I found him peeing in the bathtub instead of the toilet (thank heavens it was the bathtub and not the floor-much easier to cleanup). I ask him (dumb question) if he had been peeing in the bathtub (we both knew he had) - He just looks up at me with this exspression that says - Who Me?
I didn't know whether to be mad or cry or laugh. Tell me why kids do these things? What are they thinking? And where do four year old brains come up with these things? Crazy. My mom says he was probably seeing what would happen if he did - she's probably right - but I hate dealing with the mess. But I guess that is what you get when you adore these little people in your lives.
