Snow Day !!!!!
" SCALING THE MOUNTAIN "
Today was suppose to be the last day of school until after Christmas break instead the kids get an extra day off. Snow started falling around nine o'clock last night and ended sometime in the wee hours of the morning. We received about ten inces of beautiful fluffy snow. At first both the boys were a bit disappointed - not because we got so much snow- but because they were both suppose to have parties at school today- after taking a really good look at the "mountains" of snow awaiting out the front door they decided that just maybe they could find something fun to do today!!:) So unless we have some sort of unprecedented warm-up in the next six days (not likely since they are already predicting the possibility of at least two more storms) we will have lots of snow for Christmas!!!

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas
Over the weekend we were able to spend sometime decorating for Christmas. J kindly modeled for a picture with the tree. We also put up lights on our house for the first time this year. I think they turned out kind of pretty with all the snow. It was a bit of an adventure to get them up before the roof got really slick - since it started to snow before Del got finished. But he did a nice job and it gives our house a bit of an extra festive look.

I beg and beg and they won't feed me!!
Poor Sammy, we tortured him all day with the smell of roasting turkey and he was reduced to trying too steal some scraps as Del cleaned off the bird at the end of our Thanksgiving meal. But Del was a softy and snuck him a small piece of turkey for his efforts. POOR STARVING CAT!! NOT!!:)
THANKSGIVING!!!
We have had a wonderful Thanksgiving. The meal was wonderful and like most Thanksgivings we all ate way to much food. (roll away from the table). But that aside as a family we have so much to be thankful for. We have each other, a warm home, a good job, transportation, plenty of food, good clothing, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, our testimonies, the scriptures, prayer, and so much more. We are truly blessed and are grateful for all our family and friends. We hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

The Snowman!!!
Well K.J. finally got to build a snowman. He and J.D. went out today after lunch and played in the snow. It was just the right consistency for a snowman. There wasn't alot of snow so Mr. Snowman was a bit on the short side. But by the time they got him all pulled together with hat and gloves he turned out kind of cute - the next Frosty - the short version. K. was so excited. I'm sure this is just the first of many snowmen for this year and years to come!! :)

LOOK WHAT WE WOKE UP TOO THIS MORNING!!!
Once again we awoke this morning to snow! J.D. and K.J. were so excited! This time we have had enough to break out the coats, new boots and winter gloves. I don't know if there will be enough yet for K. to build his snowman (however it is still snowing outside right now.) But they had a good time outside helping shovel the drive way. The only one that wasn't excited to see the snow was Del - because he was going to try and finish up the last of the outdoor, fall, yardwork. I don't imagine this will stick for too long (although it has been exceptionally cold the last week here). So maybe we can get it all finished over the Thanksgiving weekend! As for me and my two little boys we were all very excited to see the white stuff back and we wouldn't mind it sticking around awhile!!:) (Sorry Michelle I know you would perfer it didn't). So for all those who like snow - enjoy!!!

Snow! Snow! Snow! Hurray!
Michelle, this post is not for you. Since I know how much you LOVE snow!:) We woke up to snow this morning! I love snow. The ground is still too warm for much to stick. But it is exciting none the less. It has snowed on and off most of the day. It really only started to stick to the lawns, decks and trees late this afternoon when things finally cooled down. Hope we get more of this stuff - especially when we get closer to christmas. K. wanted to know if there would be enough to build a snowman with. I had to tell him probably not this time. He was excited too. Kept sticking his head out of the parked car window while we waited to pick J. up after school. I don't know there is just something exciting about the first snowfall of the season!!! =)

The Snake
J.D. loves snakes. This last Thursday Del brought home a snake from a ward members house. J. was thrilled!:) We let him keep the snake for three days. J. was so excited he finally got to hold a snake and play with him. He was sad when we had to let the snake go on Sunday evening. But Mom was very firm that we were not keeping this snake for any longer. The poor thing needed to eat and hibernate. So finally J. , K. and Del. took the snake and let him go in the corn field at the end of our street. I think he was one happy little snake. And Mom felt better too - no possibility of dead snake in the house. :)

For the Grandparents
Since some of the grandparents and other relatives view this blog periodically I thought I'd post a few of the kids' Halloween pictures! Hope you all had a great one.

Another New Calling
Well, I thought a few weeks ago that since my husband was put in the bishopric that we (meaning I) was safe from any more heavy duty type callings. I can't begin to say just how wrong I was!!!!!! This last sunday I was sustained as the new Relief Society President in our ward. It was a very very long weekend. Last night my councilors and I met together for the first time. It was a very long meeting. I left feeling very overwhelmed - wondering how I was going to take care of my kids, help my husband meet all his work and calling needs, and meet the needs of every sister in the ward. I still don't know how it is all going to work. I know that some how the Lord will have to step in and show me the way. I feel so overwhelmed with responsibilities. However, I am also very excited to be working in the Relief Society and for the opportunity that I get to serve the sister in our ward as well as the Lord. Can we see many new growing experiences on the horizon!!!!!
