At the Barbar Shop you could get a shave or play a game of checkers. The boys picked the checkers!:)

While at the Heritage State Park the boys got a chance to see how a newspaper use to be printed. They got to help with the press and actually print a paper.

A Day at the Lake!

 

 

 

 

Another fun activity we enjoyed while we were out west is spending some time at Bear Lake. We played frisbee, built sand castles, and even did a little swimming. The boys ventured into the water for a small swim. The water in this lake is always cold - even in August - but especially so in the early summer. We thought it would be too cold to swim - Del said it wasn't as cold as he expected. However, they didn't swim for very long - so plenty cold. We spent most of the time on the beach and just enjoyed our time togther.

We spent a few extra days out west after the funeral to visit and let the boys enjoy some vacation time. One of the the things we did was visit a living cave. For those who don't know what a living cave is - it means that the geological processes that formed the cave and some of its features are still going on. In this cave limestone formations such as stalagtites and stalagmites are still forming. The cave hike itself is a half a mile in and a half a mile back out and it is anything but level. (Infact if you ask mom that cave has been stretched by several miles since she was a girl and they have added several dozen more stairs just for fun!! Ha Ha!!) The boys really loved this little adventure. Both of them walked they entire time. And weren't even winded. It was mom and dad who wanted to just be carried out on a stretcher. But it was worth it to see the boys having so much fun! And for those of you who may of noticed - there is snow infront of part of the entrance. The cave is located at the top of a canyon several thousand feet above see level- so on the fourth day of June there might be patches of snow around.
